Graduate Musician-in-Residence

Graduate Musician-in-Residence (with accommodation)
Cheltenham College

Cheltenham College seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and talented music graduate to take up the role of Graduate Musician-in-Residence (GMiR) from September 2026. The role is offered for an initial fixed period of one year.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is considering a career in teaching or education to gain valuable experience in a dynamic and highly musical school environment. We warmly welcome applications from recent graduates or individuals at the start of their career.

We offer an inspiring musical setting with outstanding facilities, a vibrant performance programme, and excellent opportunities for professional development and mentorship.

Working closely with the Director of Music, the GMiR will support a wide range of curricular and co-curricular activities, including ensemble coaching, rehearsals, concerts, music administration, and technical support for performances. There may also be opportunities to assist with teaching, composition support, and accompaniment.

The GMiR will work with a highly motivated and dedicated body of students and staff in an environment in which Music is recognised and celebrated as both an important academic subject and as a hugely valuable cultural experience.

There is an expectation that the postholder would be a Resident Tutor in one of College’s boarding houses and would be expected to undertake evening duties and responsibilities to assist with the smooth running and pastoral care of the pupils.

We are looking for a motivated musician who:

  • Holds a good degree in Music and possesses a broad range of musical skills and knowledge
  • Has strong performance and ensemble skills
  • Displays a passion for music in all its forms, and the ability to share this with young people and colleagues by fostering strong working relationships;
  • Has excellent organisational and communication skills

This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate looking to develop their career in music education, performance, or arts administration within a leading independent school.

Please see the job description for more details.

  • The deadline for applications is: Sunday, 19th April 2026
  • Interviews will be held in: week commencing 27 April 2026
